Joker not updating root servers?
One of our Joker domains expired (due to my neglect). I renewed it 24 hours ago and it's still not showing up as renewed in the WHOIS:
registrar: JORE-1
created: 2002-03-04 07:30:43 UTC JORE-1
modified: 2003-03-07 01:21:02 UTC JORE-1
expires: 2004-03-04 01:30:31 UTC
source: joker.com
db-updated: 2004-03-06 01:31:46 UTC
The thing is, when I search on all my other Joker domains, and even Joker.com itself, every result has that same "db-updated" date from 3 days ago... This sort of implies to me that Joker is broken and isn't passing registry information up the chain! Am I correct in that assessment?
The thing is if you search the WHOIS from the www.joker.com web site you get updated results:
created by JORE-1: 2002-03-04 07:30:43
modified by JORE-1: 2004-03-08 01:20:42
db-updated: 2004-03-09 01:44:32
expires: 2005-03-04 01:30:31
but if you directly query whois.joker.com or whois.networksolutions.com you get the 6th of March as the updated date.
If I'm correct this would also mean that if you tried to renew an expiring domain in the last few days it wouldn't be renewed and would drop. Joker wait a few days before disabling expired domains, but they'd be running out of time right now.
Of course Joker haven't responded to my trouble ticket, and from previous experience I know better than to expect any results (let alone cooperation) from actually calling them. No relevant news on their web site either.

whois.internic.net seems to reflect the correct information...

internic/registry database always adds 1 year to expiration waiting for the registrar to renew the domain.
just wait another 24hrs and see if joker.com updates its database or not.Bashar Al-Abdulhadi - KuwaitNET Internet Services Serving customers since 1997

Those two WHOIS servers still haven't updated, but the domain became visible in the DNS about 7 hours ago. Seems very slow to me, even by Joker standards.
