I just registered a domain on Gandi but I didn't realize I can't change my name on the whois. They want $15 more in order to change my name. What is the deal with that? Any American registar allows you to change your whois info without charging you. Is it possible to terminate my domain with Gandi and re-register it tomorrow at GoDaddy?

i doubt they charge $15 for this.
maybe they charge $15 for changing the ownership not the whois info.
yeah there is a control panel but the only field you cannot modify is the name. in order to do that, you need to produce the necessary paperwork and then mail it over to them to show that the owner changed. they charge a $15 processing fee for this.
but it's all ok now. I bought a second domain thats similar so I can use it in the mean time.

why buy another domain and waste money..
I can't wait another 60 days to launch this website and for legal reasons I can't leave my name up on the whois. I have already went ahead and bought another domain. It's nothing though considering I already own 11 domains.
