also, the controller came with two cables. one that has 5 ports, one that 8. i plan to hook up two drives at this time to provide mirroring between one another. i would obviously want to do this on the 5 port cable, but this will leave 2 open ports. do i need to terminate those ports with this sort of setup? what do i use to do that?

Looks like these will be fine together. I looked up the interfaces for this HDD model and they appear to be:

Ultra160/m, Ultra2, Ultra SCSI 68-pin Wide
Ultra160/m, Ultra2, Ultra SCSI 80-pin SCA-2

And the controller is 68-pins, so it should be okay. Don't take my word for it though, ask someone who knows SCSI inside out
