I want to take advantage of ev1 servers' domain name registration prices. But I want a different company as a host? Is it true that a domain name has to be registered for over 60 days before it can be transferred? You see, the host that I want to use (pair.com) charges 3 times as much as ev1 for domain name registrations. Also, is there some type of hidden fee for transfer? It just seems to me that it makes sense to simply purchase the registration for the cheaper price and I plan to pay a little more in hosting fees for the better service that pair provides.

If I understood your question, the answer is that you don't need to register your domain with your host; you can register it at EV1 and have it hosted at Pair. No matter which registrar you choose, your domain will be active in about two days. And you can transfer it anywhere else without downtime, too.
But to my understanding, I would have to wait 60 days to use the host that I want to use. To make things more clear- what I want to do is register a domain for the first time but use a different host. That way I can register the domain for cheaper. But, I was told that I would have to wait 60 days before I could put the site up if I use a different host, because by rule domain name has to be registered for 60 days before it can be transfered.

NO! You DON'T need to "transfer" your domain name. Just get the info (i.e. something like ns1.pair.net, ns2.pair.net, etc.) and then login to EV1Servers to modify the nameservers.
Actually, it would be a rather good combo to use EV1 for domain registration and pair.net (oops! .com now) as host.

So, I can purchase a domain from ev1 servers today, and then immediately purchase a hosting package from pair? This meaning my new site would be up within 72 hours. The 60 day period is pertaining to a site that was already built and hosted by another company? Remember, it would be great to do this because registering a domain with ev1 servers is much cheaper, but I want pairs' quality hosting services. They have a package that I am very interested in.
Sorry othello, i understood that. I just didn't use the correct words. If I understand you correctly, you mean the management of the registered domain name itself. You mean as far as logging in and using the registrars control panel (cpanel, etc.). That is what the 60 day period pertains.
Yeah, thank you. It's much more clear now. Silly me, I thought cpanel was a registrar tool. I meant whatever method or software that the registrar provides for logging in and setting the nameservers, etc.
