I have few problems with my mail service. It seems that I have not configured it completely and this is causing some of the providers to not accept mail coming from my server etc...
the DNSreport.com reports following failures:
MX: Reverse DNS entries for MX records: None of your mail server(s) seem to have reverse DNS (PTR) entries (I didn't get any responses for them). RFC1912 2.1 says you should have a reverse DNS for all your mail servers. It is strongly urged that you have them, as many mailservers will not accept mail from mailservers with no reverse DNS entry.
Mail: Connect to mail servers: ERROR: I could not complete a connection to any of your mailservers!
126.96.36.199.domainname.com: Could not connect without glue or A record.
If this is a timeout problem, note that the DNS report only waits about 30 seconds for responses, so your mail may work fine in this case but you will need to use testing tools specifically designed for such situations.
I do have an smtp server running though. I use webmin to config. Can anyone please point me to how I should configure to get it all to work
Right, so even if it's an unmanaged server the company that host's it will have to add in the Reverse DNS. My server is unmanaged and I searched for almost a month trying to figure out how to get it done, the only people that can do it is the company that runs your site.
If anyone knows how to do it them selves please post it because I would like to know how to do it my self.
