Agreed. For some reason, I had similar problems with Zone Alarm. Been with Sygate now for over year without an issue.

i Don't know about sygate, but Zone Alarm is very good for advanced users, you can track any file the wants to access the internet, it really helped manytimes before, and worked smoothly with me and all my friends.
I wasn't infected by the MS blaster cause i had it running
    but i might try sygate.

I used to use Sygate since about 2000, but it seems lately that it doesnt want to work properly on my new computer. Tried upgrading to 5.5, and its still screwing up.

Anyways, I still use Sygate on my other machines.

I have been using the free version for more than 2 years and it works just fine for me and blocks quite a lot of intrusion and jailed those softwares with hidden scripts.

For example it has blocked 8205 intrusions and 429 of it has been high-rated since using it.

    See sample http://www.boomhost.com/Test/zonealarm.jpg

Anyways if are interested, you can download it from:

ZoneAlarm and Norton works fine and co-exists without problems and it helps me most of the time in trapping viruses and disabling them from junk mails and free softwares

Both ZoneAlarm and Norton have had viruses specifically built to target, and knock out their protection - and were fairly effective at doing it to versions not updated.

Neither one sits on my desktop, and hasn't for a while. Sygate's free version is great and I used it for quite a while before moving to McAfee's commercial firewall. Heck i recommended Sygate in a thread a day or two ago...

I'd say neither. I've only had dealings with ZoneAlarm, and I've always considered it to be a pretty poor product.

If you're serious about using/needing a firewall, get a hardware one.
