Some backup advice needed
I'm moving to a new server next weekend, and while my old set up consisted of 2x60gb drives (one as a backup via Cpanel), the new set-up is 1x80gb drive.
I'm wondering is the best back-up solution a 2nd drive like previously, or if a remote FTP back-up via gnax is a better option - again using CPanel.
Does the remote FTP back-up include SQL databses etc, and how easy is it to restore files from that kind of system?
Is it more server intensive to back-up via FTP?
Any advice on this would be appreciated.
1) Get Offsite FTP Storage
2) Get an extra hdd in your machine installed with OS / cPanel as well. So if main hdd died, ask your provider to boot with the backup harddisk, so you get something working asap! Reduce downtme.
I suggest 2) because I experiened HDD died, kernel stuffed up...etc..
I would agree with WCHOST.
Get the local second drive, you can retrieve backups very quickly.
But also try to have a remote location, maybe ftp the backups every week.
If you need help setting up local (2nd hard disk) and remote backups (sftp) contact me at MSN:
