Any way to track a cell number to its user?

    Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if I had a cell number, and I wished to find to whom it belonged.. how would I do that? Is there a program? A site?

    Thanks,

Not for cell phones. The most you can usually tell is what company they're using. Anything beyond that is hard to get

Give me the NPA-NXX (area code and the first three digits of the number) and I will tell you the carrier. More than that, there is not legal easy way to get the person's name and address. As mentioned previously, you might get lucky, but doubtful.

In the UK, you can track down GSM 900/1800 phones to thier location via online services, providing you have registered the phone previously by recieveing a text message and inputting a code. I believe the only way to track down the user of a phone is if they are on a contract/registered payg phone and for this you would have to contact the network and have a highly valid reason for it. Not sure about CDMA networks though...

Google is an option. Also, yeah, it's not too difficult to find the company behind it.

Also, some providers actually list your name now with your number. SprintPCS does this in some areas. If I call someone with my cell, my name shows up (not CELLULAR CALL, like most).

    Pretty cool!
