I've been looking into resellar for the past few days and it's something I m iterested getting into since it doesn't require (correct me if Im wrong)a lot of money to start.
What I have been wondering though, is, can one make descent amount of money from it? $800+ month?
Whats your opinion hosting gurus ? Also do I need to establish a company, or can I just buy a domain name and begin?

Well It depends on how much time and effort you dedicate to reselling. It is like any other business, you get paid for your work. And yes, it is a good and cheap way to start.

$800 a month is not out of reach. In fact depending on the amount of clients you have, you can make into the thousands. But be prepared to answer those tech calls. As a reseller, you have that obligation.

I know first hand of resellers making well over $1000/month. Good luck to ya. It is a great business to be in!

Question Weinbar,

Hello !!!

How much time do these resellers have to invest in their reselling business... from the marketing and support point of views in order to earn a $1,000 or so easily a month?

Am curious !!!

Learner

Heh,

I never said it was easy, but depending on the companies you go after, it is not out of reach at all.

Suppose you are a reseller and you buy hosting at $10/month. You resell it at $30/mo = $20.00 profit.

If you have 50 customers (pretty easy if you figure getting a couple of customers per week - remember, the way to get customers is to go out and market for them. They don't just arrive at your door!) = $1000/mo.

Now, before anyone starts yelling and saying that $30/month is too high.. Not really. It all depends on what you give the customer for the money. You are a reseller. YOU know what is involved in hosting. The majority of customers just want their business on the web. $30.00/month is a drop in the bucket for the advertising that they get for it. You have to sell it, and you will get it.

When I was a reseller, I was charging over $40/month and buying at $10. It didn't take me long to get there. Small business will easily spend that money. Customer service is where it is at.

If you want it, go get it. That's all I can say.

It's a viable way to make money. But be sure you can provide the support your customers need. Also choose a good provider for yourself as switching hosts can be a pain.
