Does it have to be dead on Toronto, or cities close/surrounding Toronto?

Are you looking for companies who have their servers PHYSICALLY located in Toronto...Or companies that have their offices in Toronto and can have their servers elsewhere?

PriorityColo.com have their servers in Toronto.

    hostopia.com is in toronto

    [url]I got nothing/url]

For clarity's sake, don't use "<ip address of hostname>" use the ACTUAL 32-bit numeric IP address of the machine.

Whatever you do, don't answer that your company is in Toronto. I just got 10 points for doing that.

I don't see any rules against telling people where you are located so I am very confused by the penalty. Anyone have any ideas?

Well, self promotion is not allowed in WHT.
Once you get x amount of points, you're suspended...You get points for violation the rules of WHT. I think it's 30 points to get suspended.

Blatt has started three threads regarding hosting companies, so he is obviously looking for hosting. By saying that you are located in Toronto, you're promoting yourself.

    From the rules.

"Participants may only discuss details about their company and/or product offerings when the thread starter or poster has made direct reference to their company and stated something untrue or misleading, or something which clearly needs clarifying. The response must be in direct reference to the point discussed only and contain no added promotional information and/or fluff. It is advisable when in the above scenario to contact us first."

It doesn't get much clearer than that.

I understand the fact that no one should self advertise, but if your just saying where your offices are based, and not ramming a deal down a customers throat then i dont see any harm in it.....

Maybe this can help Bllat? http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...toronto+canada

May I ask why does this absolutely positively have to be in Toronto Canada? To be able to contact them directly?

While i do believe that being able to "get them" if they misbehave is a good thing, this can make the task of finding a good host a lot more difficult that it already is. Go with a reliable, legit host and you should be OK, no matter where they are located. Of course, all this is IMHO...

Try www.bluegenesis.ca on Airport Road. (Mississauga...part of the GTA so close enough in my books)

I think they are a reseller of Hostopia.

    Good luck...

I don't search for every post someone has made before I respond to their messages. Do you?

I took his message as "Hey guys, who else is in Toronto?" IE - friendly chat, are we neighbours, etc.

Responding by saying "I am" with NO link to my site and NO sig should be allowed. I still fail to see how acknowledging where I happen to be located in the physical world is self promotion. Are we all to pretend when typing here that we do not exist, but everybody else does?

It is ridiculous that you can only talk about other people here.

to "get them" if they misbehave
I feel that it can only be a benefit to be able to deal with a company directly
