Servermatrix.com Resellers : What kind of margins ?
The title says it....I was wondering about reseller margins for SM servers. I would estimate something like 5%, 10% and 20% depending upon machines sold. So, is any Reseller going to be open about this ?
Why would a reseller be open about this? So that everyone knows how much they profit per server? Before ThePlanet launched SM, my old company contacted Jeff about reselling (but never went through with it ) - The pricing structure was a teired structure based on the number of servers that were resold.
I would suggest contacting SM yourself. If they do have a tiered margin structure, you alone would best know which tier you'd fall in based on your planned volume. Even if a reseller told you what % they got they would still be unlikely to disclose their actual volume information, thus rendering such information irrelevant to you.

Well, I have looked at the topic from the other side, how much is the difference for the end user between SM and an SM-reseller.
I would never go with an SM-reseller if:
1. The latter is just reselling the margins and not some added value.
2. The difference in the price is more than 25% for the value added.
3. There is no legally approved scheme to transfer the contract to the root hoolder of the servers in case the reseller fails, or has gone bankruptcy, or into some other God- or Society-driven natural calamity.
