    Greetings:

In some ways, the area is a mess; and in other ways, I'm impressed.

All I can say in ending is "interesting..."

    Thank you.

Impressive for a 14 year old. Must have a lot of clients or really giving
    parents

Personally, I'd rather use a cage in someone elses DC than build my own
    in my house ... lol

I don't know if I'd want my sites hosted on his servers, but for such a young kid he's got a lot of nice stuff.

And yeah I think that link you posted was funny, senseidru. I've actually had that picture saved on my hard drive for quite some time now.

Well for one, I am certainly impressed, at least its not 1 of those 14 year olds claiming to be setting up a data centre ( I would call this a data area at the bottom of the bed), he has actually went a long way to doing something rather than talking about it.

Next step for him could well be a cage in a data centre or his own DC, you might laugh but he is gaining the knowledge required to go on to bigger and better.

Well done that man, Eh! boy.

There is nothing better than hands on and that guys really seems to be going hands on, I mean look at that, thats something I have dreamed of doing (not setting up a DC, having a messy room with all those cables and rack mount gear - makes me feel horney thinking about it)

I mean rock on dude, nice one

Beware: A web host with a "datacenter" in their house

    And even brags about it:
    link

Be careful colocating your server with THAT company...

He's doing a lot for a 14 year old kid. Personally I wouldn't host anything on his servers, but I think he's on the right track. Many will laugh, but he may become the next Chris Faulkner of C I HOST. If the kid is that advanced at age 14, it will be amazing to see what level he gets to when he's 20. What were you doing when you were 14? I barely knew how to use the internet at age 14. Now at 20, I'm COO of a small hosting company.

yes, he has goals and dreams, but I think he needs to re-vamp his goals for a bit right now. I mean, as somone had pointed out, his pricing structure made no sense.... he's going all out, too fast I think.

but yeah, gl to him. who knows, in 10 yrs, we might have a birmingham datacenter. I'd hope he would have upgraded to better facilities

You do have to give him some credit for doing that at 14 I suppose. And at the prices he's charging he probably will get customers.. maybe more than his datacenter can handle but that's another matter..

Whoa, Anybody can turn their cable modem into a DC at the age of 14...

If there were modems when I was 14, I might have done the same if I was foolish enough.

This kid is probably a 1000 times more reliable than most hosts here, and to top it off I know what he looks like, he's pretty smart, and has some excellent plans. His site RackMasters.net is straight forward with no bullcrap. We're probably looking at the next Bill Gates here in 5 years!

He does not have the pictures of the home DC, on the website, in fact there are no pictures.

Pretty good for a kid his age.

doubt it with companys like dinix, and hostrocket to stop his little plans.

Don't get me wrong he seems bright, but maybe not bright enough.

First off he has no terms of service, No SLA, and importantly enough, even if someone did go onboard with him and something happend, no one can do anything because he is a minior (if you are all correct in saying he is 14). Some times I wonder.

    I agree.

He doesn't mention how much transfer is included with his plans, nor does he say what his connection is to the outside world.

If he knows what he is doing and can manage a 24/7 support (part
him part outsourced) I don't see it being that scary... more funny

I give him props, at least he has his own operations, that's pretty neat.

I wonder if I could start up my own operations with my business cable, a few 3COM Routers, some dell poweredge servers, an APC Smart-UPS 1400 and some windows enterprise edition software

It's sad that he got flamed into oblivion on the other site. A classic case of e-penis envy if you ask me. Whatever you think of the kid, he has got some serious bling-bling tech toys for a 14 year-old.

You would need to get your head checked if you are gullible enough to believe that this kidís bedroom is a datacenter.

Yeah he is 14 and playing pretend. Thats great. When I was 14 it was cool to run a BBS. I just don't think there is anything special there.

    Kids n Data cnetres

Seems like a good kid?? Just spent a billion hours reading the Faculty/FLAdmin/Mr Rob saga, another young teen aspiring towards data center, ended up costing a lot of people a lot of money

at least he isnt sitting around on his arse all day playing playstation!

at least he has a brain!

at least he isnt out getting someone pregnant (we hope!)

at least he isnt in a gang!

this makes me think.... forget the car! maybe i should start saving up now for my kids DC.... hes already 8!

ok, you have a point there BUT...you may no that I am also 14...

    and I:

    1. Don't sit around playing PS2/Xbox/Gamecube all day
    2. I have a brain (or so a I think)
    3. I also run a hosting business (www.bubhost.com)
    4. I also have the knowledge to set up something similar to that kids mini D/C

BUT... the problem is that he was lying to all the people in that forum...and his hosting business seem VERY scammy...for gods sake he was offering dedicated servers at 20 dollars a month. Don't go thinking that he is the only 14 year old doing something good....cause his 'company' sounds like a complete sham.
