Never thought I'd see the day when Headsurfer would be brow-beaten by a bunch of litigation-happy thugs like SCO.
Oh well. Robert, may be time to grow that spine back.

Probably just marketing move by EV1Servers.Net. Buy something from SCO, and you will be in the news. I doubt anyone educated on the subject gives any credibility to any of SCO claims.

Its more like insurance... Robert I'm sure saw this as a way to insure that no mater what the outcome of the lawsuit, him and his customers are safe...
Yes he could have stood there and fought but what if SCO wins in court? And then jacks up licensing costs... He would have to rise prices of servers and then he would be flammed even more....

Robert is good at pumping things pretty well. I agree that it is a marketing move.... to be a "Fortune 1000" company... which I seriously doubt... but like I said he likes to pump.
Wether it was a smart move for the sake of his customers, I do not think so either.
Nothing has went well for SCO in their legal proceedings thus far and I am a big believer in momentum and thier momentum is not headed in the right direction.
http://www.groklaw.net for those that would like to keep abreast of the day to day happenings in the SCO plea for a buy out.

What the hell are Fortune 1000 companies?
Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Bad Move Robert. This will harm your reputation if SCO loses in court.
But than again, being the largest Datacenter doesn't mean it's the best. And we all know what kind of "shack" EV1 servers is.

Well... as far is "insurance goes" or "covering their back", it would be pretty much the same as saying.... ya know what, just in case my house burns, I want to pay 1/2 its value as my insurance premium, just in case... I do not think that is logical and I would bet that no one on this board would do the same thing either... marketing is what it is called.
Don't think for a minute that they paid $600 or what ever it is for each linux server they own. Robert probably pumped them for a really good fee on a blanket license.

From their forums...
They were supposed to have a 'big announcement' for their new dc - hope that's not it, as mentioned in that post It's enough to make a grown man cry....Ion Web Services/TronicTech

Again, What if SCO wins? Stranger things have happened. I see this as insurance, and a chance to make a bit of PR.

SCO will not win.
But this is a smart move anyway.
Why?
It got you people talking... and not just you. a lot of people.
Its better then paying for ads.
Not only that, his clients will be happy.
I highly doubt that SCO will win but think how safe his clients are feeling now?

I can't believe they've done this, with people like Intel joining the fighting fund it seems a strange decision to make.

I commend EV1 on this. This keeps me free from being sued. If SCO loses then I guess they will be refunded EV1 some $$$

Trust me, if it comes to light that SCO did not have the rights to license then I would bet EV1 will be doing everything in its power to get it's money back.
