How do Alexa Traffic Ratings work?


Hey everyone,

how exactly do alexa traffic ratings work like is 10mil good or 1mil?, and is a rating of 5,053,779 good or bad?

1 is the most popular, 882,470 is mediocre. Why dont you try comparing it with some other web sites. The lower, the better =]

The smaller the number the better the ranking. However, as has been mentioned in a previous thread, alexa rankings can easily be faked so they're pretty much useless.

I really don't think it is very accurate since I saw something that can boost your ranking..

Well, one site that I just registered is at 2,100,000+ and one of my sites that gets 18,000 unqiues a month is at 178,800+. What I understand is alexa only rates sites by how many users that installed their bar visit websites.

I wouldn't bother with Alexa ratings. Honestly, they don't mean a thing.

If you use the Alexa tool bar, your ratings will be WAY off.
