Anyone experienced with new panel software Zomos?
This forum looks like a great place for help and support. I see many threads for Cpanel I wish I would have known about this site sooner. Recently I have switched from Cpanel to ZOMOS, zomos.com and was looking for some other users of ZOMOS. So far I have been extremely happy with changing. Support staff is quick and very knowledgeable. The software has been extremely reliable and pretty much unlimited in feature and customizations. I think the best part is the way the interface is designed and allows you to manage domains. If anyone else has had experience with ZOMOS please let me know. I am fairly new to this software and I am sure it is capable of a lot more then what I am aware of.

I think zomos it is needed to give better price.
I can buy lifetime directadmin license at $299. But zomos cost $399 per year. Cpanel is more popular, have more features and the most DC give this at $20 per month ($240 per year).
Also zomos is a total new control panel so i dont know if it is stable and secure, so maybe it is a risk for a new server.
It is good to see new panels but only with good prices the new panels can became popular.

Christos

You make some excellent points, and the pricing to some might be considered high. Most of what I used to do was based on ASP so I used mostly NT. While it may be more expensive then some other UNIX flavored panels the cost for me is much less. I guess I wouldn¡¦t mind paying a little more for the windows familiar interface especially as I make the transition from NT hosting to Linux. Zomos actually costs me less then Cpanel, maybe you got a great deal with Cpanel or I was getting a lousy one I don¡¦t know ƒº What I do really like is that Zomos allows me from a drop down menu to manage all my domains from a single login, it also allows me to setup a separate login for my clients to be able to manage their domains. This is something that I was never able to do in Cpanel. I guess it comes back to what you are most comfortable with, but I like the fact that the Zomos file manager works much like windows explorer.
Other then Cpanel or Zomos, are their any other popular panels, that would allow me to make an easy transition from Windows to Linux?
Thanks for your time.

Hi Christos,
I think you may have misunderstood the pricing. Our pricing at $299 is for a lifetime, but it includes a year of support. Also, the monthly price of $35/mo is the "Direct from Zomos" price, resellers/partners can offer it at a lower price.
Additionally, I think we have MANY more features than cPanel :-) IMHO
Hope I helped :-)

Hi,
The marketing strategy is very important for a new product.
* Product
* Price
* Promotion
Now you have the product. The problem is how can you make people shift from cPanel and DirectAdmin.
Best regards

Tell me that's not a "Klingon" language pack in your demo there....
Ok some questions:
CGI is it jailed into it's own home or is perl free to walk around the file system unhindered except by permissions?
Same question, except for shell (SSH) access.
Apache Version?
Mysql Version?
MTA?
PHP Version?
Just a few quickies.

It is based on webmin.
You have the rights to use webmin as base for your panel?

Hello,
One of the nice things about Zomos is that it runs on top your your system. It does not matter what apache version, mySQL version, etc you have. I have never understood why people would want to be locked into a pre-set configuration that they cannot change for fear of breaking their panel.
If you use our software install scripts, it installs the latest versions of apache, qmail, proftpd, postgresql, mysql, bind and many smaller software packages. You do not have to use everything, ie, if you dont want postgres, just turn it off and everything else works fine with no postgres options. You can also setup something like DNS only accounts where people can just have their own nameservers and add/modify/delete xx number of domains.
As for a jailed environment, if your system already has one, our panel will work on top of it. Our distro (based on slackware) that will have jail built in is still in testing and about 30-45 days from release.
I hope this helps :-)

Hello!
Zomos does have many Webmin features in the backend. This allows you to have the great server level admin functions of webmin behind the full featured control panel. Its really the best of both worlds.
I hope this helps!

When you create an account do you have to create services such as FTP, Mail, mySQL access or when you create the domain it creates vhost in httpd.conf, set's up ftp, linux user, mail, mysql, dns zones, etc??
