does fasthosts allow me to let my friends downlaod legal movies from me

I need to know does fasthosts allow me if i had 20 gig bandwidth a month from them to share documentaries that are legal above board and not breaking any copyright blah blah. and once the 20 gig is used i can then have it reset at the beginning of the month, all normal. I have read that is fine i am just double checking.

I was after a website that could provide me this.

well, the best thing to do would be to ask fasthosts directly. then print off and save the response if they say yes. (as they have a habit of changing their minds)

Tell me about it, i have just phoned and got told that i am not allowed to host the documentaries or any files for my friends to downlaod from me..Strange as i thought that was what many people do. A friend of mine has a website and i was going to help out with bandwidth for him and was after a site offering 20 gig or more. Fasthosts seemed good considering they advertise in my monthly magazines aswell as reading here on this forum that they are good.

Seems liek my buisness will have to go somewere else. By the way these files are all legal so i could not see the problem. Also i thought it was irrelevent what someone did with there website aslong as the bandwidth is payed for and all is LEGAL no laws broke. Hmm i guess i was wrong.

It might be legal. What I guess you're a bad customer for fasthosts. And they don't enjoy bones. Were you going for the home package? 3.76 USD $ per month and 20 GB data transfer? I guess you're very wrong.

Some web hosts just don't like you using your transfer quota and will add restrictions to their terms to minimise the usage.

If it's legal and you are paying for the X amount of transfer a month then you should be allowed to use it

I was willing to sepnd around Ł10 a month which is about $18 dollars ai guess. Never mind no problems i will be happy going with someone else. I just thought that what i wanted was all a normal package what they offer..Again i was wrong.

i was not given the opportunity, i had a feeling the person on the other end of the phone did not like me from the word go. Not sure if it is because i am a Scouser with a very strong Liverpool accent (as some may know Scousers are not liked strange as it is) Or i am paranoid haha. I asked for his name he would not give me it which in my eyes was wrong. I wanted to know it incase i wanted to speak to him again if i found out he obbed me of when there was no need. But i guess they can do what they want i cannot argue with that i suppose.

I don't follow what you mean?

I posted on here asking a straight forward question. I phoned them up to buy a website and space i was told that fasthosts do NOT allow people to host files on ther websites for download even if the files are legal and breaking no laws and are free for distribution. To me it made no sense as my friends who have websites and host the same files i would of been hosting have been doing for 2 years and more.

I felt like i was being lied to and that afsthosts do ahve customers who themselves host files for friends to downlaod that are LEGAL

It is there place they can do what they please i know that, and to be honest it is no big problem, i just needed to know for myself if i was lied to and i wanted to know why they would say this to me. If my bandwidth got used up if it paid for then what is the problem is what i am thinking.

This is my first time at having a website of my own and was mainly to help out with bandwidth for my friend he is in the Us i am in the UK (not that that matters)

Anyway no worries people take it easy..
