* infamous of cPanel

If apache is NOT running then

> /usr/local/apache/logs/httpd.pid

to zero out the pid file. Then restart apache.

Hey!

We just had this problem yesterday... We had a Demo account on our website and it seems that someone has hacked in from that account and our Apache stoped working and we could not restart it... What we did is simply deleted the DEMO accoun from ssh and it fixed the problem..
I'm not sure this post would help.. Just sharing a personnal experience.. Good luck

when you restart, what does the error log say?

What does "/usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl configtest" say?
