Possible to trace an IP to a town?
Is it possible to trace an IP to a town? The IP I want to trace is 24.46.246.127. I know its an Optimum Online IP

easy... let me pop up my favorites...

a ton of utilities and one of them will zero in the location of an IP, even give lat/lon coordinates.
and it is close but not perfect. it has me listed 30 miles away from my actual location.

The IP will not show the actual location of the user, only what location the ip is registered to/where the center is. I live in Seattle and my IP says i'm in Bellingham. Only way to find out the location is to ask the ISP, not going to happen unless you are an authority figure.

The best I could come up with is Lindenhurst, New York. The netblock is OOL-69STJMNY2-0821 so if you could figure out what STJMNY stands for (NY=New York prob.), it might give you more clues.
