Reddrake :: Server Cupid Going Down

Server known as Cupid has been "Defaced". After a full investagation we have located that it was not a direct defacement to server but rather one focued on a client.

Due to this we have located multiple rootkits and feel that the security of the server is not with in our measures.

The server will go down for approxmently less then 8 hours. Paritial refunds will be granted and new clients will recieve a free month.

Irreversible Damage: Overwritten Index pages, {Index.html,Index.htm,Index.jsp,Index.php,Index.php3} < Known overwritten index

Best Regards,
Brian

For the record, I'm riding this one out with Brian... As one of his customers for the last 3-4 months, we've had only two minor bumps in the road (this one included).

Provided I can get everything back minus the index pages, I'll be staying with Reddrake just because I've never had another host call me at home with an update... He's done it twice and should be commended for style in a extremely stressful situation... Especially when he gets 2-3 emails and 2-3 calls a day from me while I'm freaking out.

Plus, the features included are top notch and at the right price.

I have been with Reddrake just a few months , after another hosting provider was down for several days without any notice , I at that point swithed to Reddrake , the support and call back have been great , we had our service renderred by it being defaced and noted that Brian at Reddrake informed me that the server will be upgraded and this will stop the hackers from getting in , so far I am impressed with REDDRAKE. Support and Serviice have been superb thus far except for the matter of the defacement of mine and my customers sites , hopefully reselved soon

I've been with Reddrake for just a few months, this is the first major problem we've encountered.

Brian, any update?

Unhappy disappointed.

I'd hoped to stay with RedDrake, but my projects couldn't afford more than a week of down time.

No updates here, e-mail, or otherwise since 2004-02-16. So not only 11+ days no hosting service, but also 10+ days no support.

Heck, reddrake.net hasn't even resolved in DNS since cupid went down.

Brian - if you're still in the hosting business, give us a sign. If not, give us refunds.

That does it... I just pulled the plug on Brian and Reddrake, as he has not replied to my emails (from my non-affected address) and no resolution has occured since St Valentine's Day when the hack occurred.

I can really deal with a lot of problems with physical service/product... But when there is no communication for this long, I really must draw the line.

My domains have already been started on switching to my new host... And I've sent an email to Brian's primary address with instructions to cease any business between us.

(copy of my email)

Brian,

Sorry dude... I've got to pull the plug on her, she's not breathing.

Cancel my account, and do not bill me further... Any attempts to do so will be considered fraudulent activity, and although proper service would also dictate a refund for approximately 13 days of billing, I could not hope to keep my fingers crossed.

I really do wish you better luck, and am sure it's been a m**********r to deal with... I know it was on my end.

My account was under www.kitelife.com

Cordially yours,

John Barresi
