So you cancel orders from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands that also use those IP ranges? (which evidently have the some of the lowest fraud rates in the world)

No what I think they are saying is they cancel someone's account that says they are from Kansas when they are not from Kansas.

Hey Kevin. what is that long list? IP's you run from screaming? Are those on the RIPE net you suggested was painful to track?

How does someone 'get burned' hosting to someone like that?

Total newbie...sorry if that seems like a dumb question. Do you mean they reverse their payment or go over their bandwidth and refuse to pay etc.?

I don't run away from anything, let alone run off screaming; instead I find the problem and deal with it. If I ran off, then WorldPay would be making an awful lot more money from us in chargebacks every month.

I don't know if they're on RIPE or not - all I know is that these are IPs and IP subnets have attempted to defraud our company or other reputable hosts who have shared their experiences on this very topic.

How can you get burned? Quite a few ways really:

1. Chargeback fees
2. Erroneous domain registration
3. Propensity for SPAM operations to emanate from your servers.
4. Possibility of losing merchant account
5. Accounting nightmare - gotta love the tax man

Please remember that the above only applies to those who try to defraud us. Going over bandwidth allocations could only happen to a bona-fide, existing client and even then we communicate with the client as to address this situation before it arises (extra bandwidth etc.)

Lastly, there's no such thing as a dumb question. It'd be dumber to live in ignorance.

Kevin

If I get an order with a 218 IP I immediately delete the pending order. 9 times out of 10 it's a fraud.

Then there's the people who pay for hosting, get a few months out of it, then order a charge back.
