Need reliable host to stream movies, and for a blog. What's the top 5?
I've been searching for a host for ages to host my site which will stream independent filmmakers works and help actors/actresses for free, and to show off short movies and commercials I have in the works. I'm also plan to start a blog about myself and my business.
So far every host I came across has had some major problems, and read lots of horror stories here. I know there's no perfect host out there, but I would appreciate help on finding one that has an excellent track record, good customer service, with 99% uptime, speed, lots of MB's and Bandwidth, compatible with Movable Type, Invision Power Board or phpBB message board.
Oh yeah, the host would have to be cheap, cheaper than Interland or Verio, but not so cheap to where my site is slowed to conserve bandwidth without me knowing, my email used to send spam, penalized for simple mistakes that could be corrected easily, or the owner is a High School kid.
If anyone know's of any good hosts, could you please tell me your favorite five.
Thanks!

Since I'm starting out I'm looking for a shared hosting plan between $10 to $15 dollars a month, but later if all goes well I plan to get a managed dedicated server.

None, the site is not online yet, that's why I'm starting small, but I would like to have a plan that has enough of everything just incase it takes off.
I'm working on my site, can have it online within days once I find the right host.

You need to do some research on some hosting companys on here, then check some reviews. Once you find a hosting company that offers what you need and allows the media to be on there servers. You can always start small and grow as needed with upgrades. Check the offers forum for some hosts.

How much disk space and bandwidth were you using at your previous providers?

Please don't reply if you're a host, I just would like to know from customers the top 5 hosts they would recommend.
Now watch, a few hosts will log off then back on as an alias to pretend to be happy customers, but maybe I'll get lucky and be able to find the needle in the haystack.

Do pardon me, but I suppose the following statement was a bit misleading in that regard:
"So far every host I came across has had some major problems"
Have a nice day.

I guess you could start your search at some web hosting directory (like http://findmyhosting.com/AdvancedSearch.asp), look for a few hosts that have what you're looking for. The next step is to read the reviews at findmyhosting.com, webhostingratings.com and of course here (use the search Button at the top of this page and fill in the name of the company you're looking for).
I hope this helps... And... no, I'm not a host!

"there is no best host, only the best host for you"
Somebody just had to say it
Go look in the shared offers and request forum. ISPcheck.com might be helpfull as well

Ok, that was misleading. What I should've said was that from all the research I've done in the past, almost every host I read about had some major problems. I've read so many horror stories here and on the net that it's made it about impossible for me to find a host I can trust.
I almost went with LiveRack, but a friend who had a blog on there had some slowdown problems for about an hour or more everyday at the same time. Interland was hacked, but like Verio it's too expensive anyway. Verve has a formmail problem. And the list goes on.
All I would like to see are recommendations from happy customers, the top 5 they would pick, then I'll research them and find the one that works for me.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but if you're hoping that someone will just tell you a top 5 list and that will be it, you'll not get what you're after.
With a little bit of effort and a search strategy you can find a much better solution. Why take a top 5 for granted? Why trust someone else's top 5?
Plus, there is not perfect host. Anyhost has or will at some time make a mistake. It all about the attitude when such a thing happens.
