bit torrent network test

Hey im planning to start a bit torrent site which mirrors all the major linux distributions.

i have the bit torrent tracker installed and need a few people with a bit torrent client to test out the network for me, for a day or so.....

basically what im asking is if you would download a torrent (its slackware 9.1, disc 2). i have a client open on 256 upload connection but im gunna get a commandline client to run on a linux machine with 10mbit to start the network off.

what i want is a few people to download for a day (well, run the client for a day. if your client supports it, you can limit your upload to say 5k/sec so that it doesn't affect you much).

If your not interested, then dont take part, but i just want a few people to test to see if the network speed picks up when more people start downloading (and uploading).

if you do want to take part, here is the torrent link:
http://tracker.digitallyhosted.com/t...c2.iso.torrent

Thanx for everyone, and if you have hosting companies, and this idea does take off into a big linux bit torrent mirror project then i will give everyones hosting companies a link on our links page for helping us out with testing.

Thanx

Hi thanx for helping out

I actually got a group of people to test it with me in the end, and its all working so im a happy chappy.

The reason i asked, is because, as you can see from my sig, i mirror sites...

well me and a friend, have started a project called "The Linux Mirror Project" which is basically a site that mirrors all the popular distro's

We have got permission to do this from various linux variants, so everything is good to go.

The way it will work is pretty simple, we will run a few commandline bit torrent clients on various servers around the world, on connections such as 10mbit or higher.

A person will then download say, for example, slackware. But then if someone else starts downloading, the first person should start uploading slackware to the second person who has just started downloading it.

This makes everything more bandwidth friendly. We will have our servers located around the world sharing 10mbps or more on each server, to give everything a boost. But in theory, if there is enough people downloading distributions, then we could put all the servers around the world offline, apart from the tracker server, and everything would continue working, because users are uploading to each other.

there are probably many projects like this, so i doubt its a new idea, but i thought i would start a simular project, because im a keen in helping out in the linux world as much as i can.

i already have the domain, its tlm-project.org, although there is no site up at the moment, its just pointing to my server ready for when we have a live site.

so thanx for everyone who offered to help

should be up in 2 - 3 days, and the link will no doubt be in my signiture
