Ok, i'm trying to use rsync to download a cpanel database backup. The URL is as follows:

http://user:pw@www.domain.net:2082/g...ackup/dbase.gz

What is the syntax to make rsync grab that file, and drop it into say "/backup/dbase"

ME fink transferring the entire directory structure would be faster plus the server doesn't consume CPU much while gzip ~

It took me 30 mins just to backup 8GB of sites to my home with a cable connection

As far as I know, rsync is only able to communicate with the rsync protocol. You can't download files via http.

And since you are eliminating the purpose of rsync by gzipping the file(s), you might as well just use wget.
