I am currently looking into both. Right now I am leaning towards managed.com. Has anyone had any past experiences with them, good or bad, or heard something about them? Which one would you recommend? Thanks in advance!

This forum is full of experiences and reviews for both companies. Please look through the first couple of threads and you'll find what you need. Also use the search function as there really was no need to start yet another thread with the same content...

The very fact you're comparing SM and Managed is hilarious.
SM is a solid company in every respect, Managed....is not.

Also remember that Managed.Com has support only from 9 - 5 which would make it hard for someone who wouldnt know how to manage a server.

Like BVS stated. Managed only has a M - F/9 - 5 support team. For things like reboots though, the NOC is supposed to help them with that.
If getting 24/7 support is a big thing, check out a managed.com reseller. Angelnetworkz get's my vote so far

I've had a server with Managed.com since last Nov with about 2 hours of downtime total since then which is still 99.9% uptime so I haven't had any problems with them. You'll find that the people that complain about them on here either have read something they don't like or they haven't really hosted with them. Server Matrix on the other hand started out great and they've gone downhill somewhat quick..had a server there until last week and I chnaged providers because there service is non existant as far as tech support. As for Managed.Com only being open from 9-5 M-F. This is for sales and Tech Support. They still have NOC personnel there to maintain the network. It's a provider for people who know what they are doing, not newbies.

I had a server with them and they are terrible. I even said give them a chance before I tried them, but their network is sub-par, their support is non-existant and most of the ip's I ran are listed in spews and they won't do anything to help you out.
If you go with managed just be willing to sacrifice quality for a little money savings.

Servermatrix seem much more professional to me.
Managed.com seems to be a slow provider from the UK. 160ms ping on ADSL while Severmatrix is 137.
I wouldnt recommend managed to anybody unless they had low funds.
I have heard of clients complaining about speed, which is definetely bad for business.
Servermatrix is the way to go.

You gotta remember, this is because of hte actual locations of the servers. Managed.com is on the very west coast, while SM/Planet are toward the east cost.
Ya, there were customers complaining about speeds during the DoS attack, that's about it. I've had a server on their network for the last week, and it's blazing.

Bite me Watcher
You're going to have one hard fight trying to prove that Texas isn't east of California. Texas is bottom, middle of the USA, so that's around ~3000KM between the two points. You can't tell me that with a difference of that amount, that the pings won't rise a some. ~20ms is pretty damn good for that amount of distance.
