    * Another must see video

    http://www.presage-designs.com/Speed_Kills.wmv

You'll know when you reach the part I'm speaking of... is it real or fast forward!?

    File is about 6mb...

I don't think it is fast-forwarded, because (this may sound silly, but you need a "reference-point") if you look at his hair while he's doing it, it does appear to be "moving" normally.

I know it may sound silly, but it was the only other thing I could see as a reference point, and moving at the normal speed.

If you think I'm just talking nonsense, then please just ignore this post

This guy is very very good, though I'm amazed at how he can do it at such a fast speed during that hand technique. Though I'm not too sure but probably is possible with much practice

And thats a pretty cool guitar, love to have one of those. Won't put it down if I did.

Its real - my friend has been practicing on that "song" for about 8 months... He can get that speed and sometimes faster.

If you wanna see something REALLY amazing - look up Steve Vahn (Or is it Vie? He's the BEST guitar player in the world)

Edit: I take that back, the rift he's working on is only a portion of this (Not the fast hand sweep thing) - but its still pretty amazing (Not as amazing as this, though)

Edit again: He's working on the rift at 2:22-2:32 or so... But no where near as fast

It's Steve Vai. He can get arount 20 notes per seconds.. Joe Satriani gets 25 notes/sec... and some other guys gets even faster...

If you watch "Crossroad" there is a sequence where Steve was challenged and then defeated by Eugene (Steve played the guitar of course)... it's just simply amazing..

I thought Steve Vai was the best out there?

And didn't Vai lose on purpose?

Unfortunately Steve Vai didn't make it in the top 100 guitarists of all time on Billboard. I was disappointed.

    The video looks 100% authentic.

the technique on this guy is amazing. however, music is hardly all about technique - it is a spiritual, not a technical thing.

If you practice enough you wouldnt need to see anything and still be able to play the whole thing perfectly

If you watch "Crossroad" there is a sequence where Steve was challenged and then defeated by Eugene (Steve played the guitar of course)... it's just simply amazing..
Mind posting links to any of those challenges or clips of it? That'd be great.

LOL, did you guys watch it all the way through?? At about 2 minutes into it, there is a part where his hand moves from one side of the fingerboard to the other several times, and it is obviously faked.

omg, please tell me you are joking.

you can see his whole body moving as though the film was sped up.

Yes, people can play that fast, but the part around 2 minutes into it was faked, absolutely no doubt about it.

    I don't think it's fake.

    pixetech:

Not faked. Capture those frames and do a frame-by-frame comparison, including measurement of relative distance and elapsed time. Compare rate of travel to distance covered and confirm proportionate movement from elbow to wrist with movement range of elbow to shoulder. Use stationary marks to compare left-side body movement to relative travel of hand from one side of fretboard to the other, and you'll see that he is actually performing these movements in real time.

I was in a band in the 1980's that got airplay on album rock format stations. Our lead guitarist (Angelo) could do the same. It just takes practice.

You can see that during that fast play there is no pixel distortion in the blue background. The whole scene is not accelererated. Guitar players acquire extreme dexterity; the nerves become able to control the muscles very fast.
