1and1 dedicated servers...

I've been in the market for a VPS but when I came across 1and1's managed dedicated server special I figured I had might as well go for that considering it's about 15$ a month more than what I was looking at.

Does anyone have any experience witht he 1and1 dedicated servers? How well managed are they really managed? Connectivity? Speeds? Reliability, support?

Any advice and experiences are appreciated.

Different companies have a different definition of MANAGED. I suggest you contact 1&1 directly and find out about theirs or simply check it out on their website. In terms of connectivity, speed, reliability and support you might want to check out these forums by perfoming a search feature and you are bound to receive a lot more info form where you can make a decision based on them.

What are you looking to use the server for?

My experience with them was - send in an e-mail - and never get a response about sales questions.

Also, I had looked at their super low prices as well with interest, but I was hoping to use the managed servers for hosting websites, and please note that these servers are NOT for hosting. Though apparently their un-managed servers are.

Specify what you're going to be using the server for, and you'll get a lot more feedback.

- Felix.

I would merely hope that suppport channels are clearly segrigated from their standard client support. Bearing in mind you would otherwise be calling to the same level1 techs which service countless 3 year free shared hosting clients.

I have heard errant reports of slow support, although this is heresay so do not take it as anything concretely more.
