cellphone water damage help
my sister just dropped her cellphone in a gutter today and water got into the keys and into the back inside where the battery is. the phone is a samsung sgh-e715. has anyone had experience with water getting into ur phone and recovering it? the phone was not soaked in the water but was picked up right away. when my sister tried to call the phone afterward, it wasn't responding. so i guess it got into the mainboard or something. there is gaps into the mainboard behind the sim card. i heard that u just have to let the phone dry and it should work again. anyone have some suggestions?

well I had a cell phone back in the days that I got a little water on it. I let it dry out, and it didnt work. To this day still doesnt work.
If you dont have insurance on the phone (cell one has it for $4.00) then going to cost alot of money to get a new phone.

Yeah, open it up as best as you can, and leave it alone. Don't turn it on for at least 2-3 days since because of winter.

Insurance is your best friend when it comes to things like that. I had to pay 130 for a new cell phone because it hit a little bit of water.
now I have insurance

I had that problem before when the cellphone dropped into the sink filled with water and I took it out a couple of seconds after it fell in. LCD was filled with water and the battery got bloated out so there goes the end of the phone.

It is okay. It was a 3 year old phone and well it was probably going anyways. I did had to have it repaired twice for some unrelated issues and thought there was no point paying for repair fees and a new battery since the new phones are not all that expensive.

I dropped mine into a bath tub and pulled it out right away. I took it apart and left it to dry overnight. It worked fine except for the "0" key. I took it to Cingular and they fixed the key for free, even though the phone wasn't under warranty any more.

after taking the battery out of this flipphone.
there is 4 screws to open the case.
has anyone ever taken this case off
or is the case attached to the rest of the phone and if i attempt to open it will crack? i just thouhgt opening the case would let me dry out the phone better.

A friend's cell fell in the toilet. Twice. She also dropped her company pager in the toilet. Twice again.
Sometimes I am in the bathroom at work and some dude will answer his phone while taking a piss. That guy once had an entire conversation with some customer service rep lady and while he was talking he flushed etc.
People, turn your cellphones off while doing number one or number two!
