bandwidth limit option

hey guys,

had an account exceed it's bandwidth, so i created a new account with more bandwidth and upgraded the exceeded bandwidth account.
It didn't resolve it and the account was still in the suspended list.

My host resolved the problem very quickly, to not bug them anymore about an explanation, their answer was "We enabled the bandwidth in limit bandwith usage option"
now where can i find that in whm?

cheers

aqi

It should be listed under Accounts in WHM; if it is not there your host may have chosen not to allow you to modify bandwidth on accounts.

It would be called "Limit Bandwidth Usage" and it doesn't look like that is enabled for you.

ya, a lot of hosts are very limiting. id find one that lets you do what you want (within reason). there are TONS of options in whm. doesnt look like you have very many.

Well it's meaningless to compare one with root access to one with reseller access. There's a need to limit access for certain things. (won't go into details as its OT). If you really need the full access, you would need a VPS or your own dedicated server. It's as simple as that.

i was a reseller before. i had lots of stuff available to me

just need to find the right host!

we're just talking about restricting bandwidth. i cant imagine why someone wouldnt let someone else access that.

but, to each his own!

well there may be lots of options, but a lot of options are a no-no for resellers unless you intend to really open up to a lot of abuses. Let's not dwell on specifics. But if you must:

The specific function you are talking about: This will allow circumvention of account package limits if you are not using resource limits.

i don't need any more options at the moment, i'm only figuring things out for a future occurence of a site going over it's limit. i think i need to contact the host for some clarification on this point.

While i'm here.
Say i move to a fully managed dedicated server with whm, would it be the same as running a reseller account?
I imagine each companies' version fully managed would differ?
Or would i be left to install patches, software upgrades etc.

cheers

There is an apache module called mod_blimit on apache and a similar product on windows to disable the site automatically.
