Business Possibilities - hostinglaunch.com
I have recently acquired the domain hostinglaunch.com and was wondering what kind of possibilities I have with the domain. I'm looking for some ideas on what I can do with the domain. I was thinking about starting up a site to help web hosting businesses get started and provide them with information, I'm not really interested in starting an online community, I'm sticking with WHT at the moment. Anyway, I'd be interested to see what everyone here thinks I should or could do with this domain.
Also, I didn't think this went into the reviews section, although it might have, I'm just wondering what my possibilities are with this.

I would work on building an FAQ/Tutorial database. I built a site similar to that for a different interest area (not hosting). There are a lot of good scripts out there that provide news and article CMS. I wouldn't rule out having a community as part of it. I've used forum scripts to build my sites, along with non-forum pages. The advantage is that people can discuss the article/tutorial/FAQ and add to it. This is very helpful.
You may also want to approach some communities about partnering... you could ask for permission to reformat a thread that has good how-to in it, post it, and provide a link back to the thread it came from. If you aren't going to do a community yourself, this would be an excellent way to gain partners because you are feeding their forum, vs. pulling away from it.

A news site detailing important Host news (new versions of control panels, network outages, fraud alerts etc) and then tutorials for hosts getting started.
Good detailed descriptions on everything (reseller accounts, dedicateds, co-location)
Possibly ads for hosts that provide the above, along with security sources and server management (like WeManageServers.com)

I like the idea.
It sounds a good site. Where tutorials and general hosting things can be discussed. Slightly like WHT but with a more helpful aproach from the site itself with the tutorials etc.

I'm pretty much in agreement, that you make it a site that benefits hosting companies. Tutorials, etc. would be great, and perfect for existing and newcomers (those who are actually serious about the business.)

Same as Velo, it would be good to have some real easy-to-navigate webhosting resource site, there aren't many, and some that are there, have tons of advertisement and all they do is try to make money thats it, not really help.
Like the idea very much!

Ali

I don't fully understand this concept, please explain. Lets say I was partnering with WHT (which I'm not at this point in time), what would that involve?

Yeah, and since I see so many people starting up web hosts around here that a good resource could really help.

The idea in itself is has a lot of merit.
I don't know if there are many sites already doing this, but I can guarantee there are many many potential hosts who would love the idea.
The site really needs to address the inherent lack of knowledge of new hosts, by providing a simple interface where they could learn about hosting. But, that alone would not be enough. On its own it is simply an advanced tutorial site.
You really need to priovide the physical tools that a host can use to setup his/her webhosting business, such as billing systems, order forms, support tickets, and show them how to use them
For it to be a true success, you really need to fuse these two ideas into one.

Yeah, I've even been considering doing reviews on the different billing and help desk software, it'd help everyone out a lot.

Changed the image on the site now too, a friend of mine just whipped it up for me, a lot better than my grayscale one.

You could also have resources like outsourced support companies link, server admin companies links and so on and charge them a nominal fee monthly which you could use to maintain the website. I have to admit that you have a very neat idea and I wish you all the best in accomplishing it. Let me know when it is completed
Nice graphic work ask your friend if he does templates/websites. If so please email me/PM me...sorry I know I am off topic here

How would this concept make any money? It seems like a lot of work to me and no way (right now anyways) to generate any income. 9 times out of 10 a free resource site with no income the owner will loose interest in it over time.
Good luck,
Derrick
