Bad service Managed.com

My server P4 2.4 w/cpanel was activated on 1 Jan 2004.

I went to login as root in WHM to change my host name. The default host name they set was image which is invalid in the first place. I change it to server.lhosting.net. I reboot the server, move my account and change my custom domain name server IP address to this new server. In the end, mysql is not working properly and keep giving me error when first enter into my forum. Went to restart MySQL service, but also got error in start up. I e-mail to support@managed.com with high priority about MySQL restart error. In a few days, I e-mail them again to ask them to fix, but no reply for a few working days that they actually looking into it and fix it.

I call their tech support a few times, but it was always voice mail. The voice mail said that the support is busy and not able to attend to you, please e-mail reboot@managed.com for reboot request with your server IP and support@managed.com for technical assistant with your server IP, please record your message after the tone. This is the home page http://www.managed.com

So I changed my host name using WHM to image, but the error was this is invalid hostname. So in the end, I ask them to do OS restore with Cpanel. After that restore, I create a new account lhosting.net, but not usable. I already change lhosting.net domain custom nameserver to new server IP since the new server was activated. Below is the result.

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

I very . The server still have problem and I e-mail them I could not access WHM, SSH, web site using root password. Still now 10 Jan Saturday, I could not setup my server properly. They still have not reply me that they fix it.

Last Sunday, I submitted order to purchase second hard disk 120GB for WHM daily backup. Up to now, I still have not received e-mail that they activated the new second hard disk. The last reply was they said they will contact vendor to order new 120GB second hard disk and will activated in 48 to 72 hours time in last sunday night.

First, The OS restore with Cpanel is corrupt as I guess and was not properly restore to have standard service and Cpanel customiseable and working properly. I do not think this should be hardware problem. I wait till they give me reply next week.

I had paid USD$85 for first month P4 2.4 server rental with Cpanel and USD$200 one time for second 120GB hard disk to be setup. I want to request for part of refund to be done but I do not think managed.com have refund policy at all.

I still got servermatrix Celeron 2.4 with no downtime and is the best. Lucky I did not transfer my client account to new server.

My experience has been quite pleasant. It took them about five days to set up, though understandibly considering I ordered right before New Years day and was in no rush for the server. The ping has always been great (<20ms) and same with the speeds.

I guess I missed where this is managed.com's problem....? This is an unmanaged server.

Am I missing something?

1.) Most places will have an invalid hostname to start with, ive only gotten 2 servers that had a correct hostname.

2.) Are you sure you setup your nameservers correctly?

doesnt look like it

NS1.LHOSTING.NET 66.79.166.150
NS2.LHOSTING.NET 66.79.166.150

those should be 2 different ips not one ip

I think you need to stop hosing this company for your not knowingness. These problems could have been solved with a little reading. On top of that if you cant fix a mysql error you shouldnt be selling hosting.

What the problem with it? So many custom name server using the same ip in my old server all working properly. All my clients did not complaint to me any problem with the old server for many name server used that IP?

It had been used to work properly previously. Do you know how does the name server works?

This is valid setting. I will remove one name server as ns2.lhosting.net is the same as ns1.lhosting.net as this serve no purpose.

You still have not setup your name servers correctly. so what if they didnt complain. each nameserver should be on their own ip. if you putting the mainip, and both nameservers on the same ip, then who knows if you setup your nameservers on the server correctly i dont think so. Nameservers ARE NOT managed.com problems they are yours so shouldnt even bring that up in your post

I'm not sure if you can say 2 NS on the same IP. However, normally I'll use 1 IP for 1 NS, however, it can be shared by other NS (not identical domain NS).

Anyhow, you may do a chargeback for the HDD though. Others, I'm not sure.

I contact sale again, they sent me e-mail with minutes.

They suggested to have new server with a new OS and Cpanel installed, do I still keep the box. The new second hard disk had been installed two days ago.

But I did not know the second hard disk is installed as I did not received any e-mail.

So I tell them just go ahead to get me new box, new OS and cpanel and do not wish to keep any data.

I request moderator to delete this topic. The reason is I was very angry to be the unlucky one to have this problems and been 10 days since activation still have problems.

Any moderators or anyone can help me keep this case closed and deleted?
