Mambo... all I can say is Cool!
So I make websites for local churches, and lately I've been using PHPWebsite as the CMS for them. I create a custom template and implement it into PHPWebsite for the church to use for their site.
But PHPWebsite has a somewhat dificult learning curve.
Someone suggested Mambo Open Source
I just Installed it and all I can say is WOW!
This is probably the cleanest CMS I have seen so far. Its not what I'm used to for a control panel (I'm too used to PHPNuke, PostNuke, and PHPWebsite), but its fairly easy to use, and its module/component installation is a breeze!
Now I just need to figure out how hard it will be to make templates for it, and then write up a How-To Tutorial on how to use the Contol panel for my Church Clients.
Has anyone else used Mambo? And has anyone created a template for it? I'm looking for documentation right now.

I have been using it for a while, and I agree - it is one of the best.

I looked into it and wasn't that interested, i pesonally use MiraServer.com very nice and flexible, but it is payware, but worth every penny.
It wouldn't be worth it for you, since you would have to pay for every website you install it on.

I've been keeping my eye on that CMS for quite a while now. It's looking pretty slick these days.

I looked into it, but had no luck with the templates, seemed bit too hard for me lol. I also looked into ezPublish and had trouble with setting up templates, so currently I am looking for another one lol

I have to agree, Mambo OS is the best open source CMS I've found so far. I used for a while on various portals with many templates. It;s fairly easy to create templates for it, as long as you keep the structure of it. IF you need to change the structure (the general layout) it's somewhat difficult.
The only problem I've had with Mambo was a security bug, that permited an attacker to get access to the server the application was installed on, but I guess it's been fixed by now.

I'm using xMambo 4.5 on a new site that will be launching soon. Right now I'm getting accustomed to things, and with the help and guidance of my friend (and fellow WHT member) 'Zopester', tweaking it to the site, adding modules, etc. and it seems like a powerful tool, and capable of handling a very large site.
What is xMambo 4.5?

All the best! Mambo may appear 'basic', in reality it is simple.... but far from basic, it's very powerful.

This would be an excellent comment if you would run down the reasons Typo3 is superior.
Thanks,

Just saying Mambo isn't what I am looking for as far as features.
Mambo is very nice and simple to use, and yes there are lots of modules available.
I just feel Typo3 extends mambo even further... granted it is a little more complex.
typo3 features
mambo features
really looking forward to the "staging system"
