    Seagate 73.0GB SCSI 10,000RPM
    RedHat Linux 9 + cPanel
    Non-Managed
700GB Bandwidth of Tier-1 MultiHomed Bandwidth
    Datacenter: LayerOne: Dallas, Texas.

    Dedicated Server #4
    2 x INTEL Xeon 2.4 (533) 512KB
Asus PU-DLS DUAL XEON, DUAL LAN/VGA/SCSI
    DDR 3GB(6x512) ECC 266MHZ PC2100 Reg
    Seagate 73.0GB SCSI 10,000RPM
    Seagate 73.0GB SCSI 10,000RPM
    RedHat Linux 9 + cPanel
    Semi-Managed
700GB Bandwidth of Tier-1 MultiHomed Bandwidth
    Datacenter: LayerOne: Dallas, Texas.

I'm just curious, if you don't mind answering, how much you people would be willing to pay for the above. The ones located in LayerOne would have Tier-1 Multihomed bandwidth.
However the Hurricane Electric one is really generic H.E. bandwidth.

Ozzie123 - Each state which is non-managed and which is managed. Non-managed is like RackShack, the managed are semi-managed like Nocster/ServerMatrix/Managed.com/etc.

Thanks so far for comments. Also please specify as to which servers you refer to since two have one type of bandwidth while the other two have different better bandwidth.

    Thanks.

By managed, it usually means that the server will have patches updated, some basic sysadmin time available to assist with questions on it or if system-related issues arise.

However, the specific definition of "managed" does vary a lot from one provider to another so it is always best to clarify and check on this.

With respect to the initial question, you could of course just buy the servers outright and colo them in a data center.

For instance, you could get a Dual Xeon box with specs like those listed for a cost of $2,500-3,500 depending on where you get it from. And then colo it at a lower effective monthly cost.

Those are definitely high-end boxes that you are listing though so they would likely be in the premium monthly pricing range if offered as a dedicated server. I'd say $300-600/month as a guesstimate.

Of course pricing varies so much for everything in hosting these days, you'd have to really build a spreadsheet almost to get a good sense of what various providers would charge for those.

HomeBlock, as CDGCommerce said, managed servers mean help is given etc. etc.

Thanks for your comments on the servers CDGCommerce.

Everyone else, please also comment on what you think would be good prices, and so on, please remember to look at each server specifically.

    Thanks.
