SSH Problem

We are having some problems with a few of our machines, its doing this on both redhat and slackware, it works ok for a bit then ssh doesnt seem to work anymore,

[root@029-103-003 root]# ssh 82.***.***.*
ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host
[root@029-103-003 root]#

everything on the box seems to die, ftp aswell.

any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks
Matthew

on your local machine try this rm -rf .ssh and seeif that fixes your problem

looks like it could be a key mismatch

putty won't connect to what?

you removed the .ssh from within /root and then tried the ssh ip and it still won't work?
