Well, you can purchase protection from many registars that can help protect your information. However, providing false information can get you into trouble. Purchasing the protection would be the only way I'd try to hide the information.

I'm not sure what info they want to change but it would make me a little nervous to be taking me off any of the whois info. Like CrazyTech said some registrars provide protection of whois info. That means that when you run a whois on a domain some info is hidden from the person running the whois. The info is not changed it is just not sent out to everyone who runs a whois on your domain. I have it on several of my domains. Another thing that at least one registrar offers (I am sure more I just don't use them) is that it will show a bogus email address to whois queries to help keep spammers at bay.

A number of registrars nowadays have annonymous domain listings.. It can be worth it.. It beats someone looking you up and seing a bunch of bogus info.. That makes you look bad.. If it's a registrar mask at least it looks legit..

I do enter my correct info. Last week I used a new e-mail address just for registering a new domain. What do you think started appearing in that inbox yesterday? Spamola! Has me looking twice at private registration.
