Question

Web Development Software.

Hi All,

We are both a software development company and web hosting company. We have just finished the alpha testing of our latest web development software.

The web development software is in fact a WYSIWYG web editor similar to Macromedia Dreamweaver. Now the reason why I am posting this here is I wanted to know what the response would be like from the web hosting community for such a program (including FTP) to be co-branded for different hosts.

E.g. Have the software branded for your hosting company when installed have it upload to your customers site using the information you provide to them. Etc.

Generally is this an application that hosts would like to be able to provide to their customers? their own branded web development software? and if so what licencing would hosts more or less be interested in (pricing, once off, monthly, per account? etc)?

You can check out the software and screenshots if you feel like it at our site: code-builders dot com.

Please Note: This software still requires a few patches after the new year for a few issues we know about.

Thanks for your input.

Chris.

We currently do something like this using WebCoder4. They re-brand the software with our hosting company name and a link to our website. They charge us $300 per 1,000 downloads.

When you come up with your rebranding and pricing plan, PM me and I'm always open to switching providers after my deal expires.

I would have thought that hosts would want an online solution rather than offline.

I found this one, it also drives regular traffic to your site because people come back to edit their website from your hosting site.

www.webeditplatinum.com

The best thing about this one is that it actually complements dreamweaver - it integrates with dreamweaver so that a developer can use dreamweaver for sitewide edits & the client can use the editor online and also be restricted to editing only certain parts of the page - total life saver this one...
