Question

Pre-Paid/Virtual Card for the UK?

Does any one know where I can get a hold of a pre-paid master card, visa card and thoese types of card. Is there one for the U.K people could use? Also is there one that accepts cirrus, solo, maestro to top up the card? One last thing it would be nice if it was free set up.

I've never come across anything like that. The best you could do is open a bank account and get a debit card which is linked to your bank account.

I'm looking for some thing like the paypal Debit/ATM Mastercard. But the paypal Debit card is only open to USA clients.

Many international clients of mine had trouble figuring out an easy way to pay... Many of PayPal's services are not open to every country... And credit cards are very limited in some parts.

Good luck.

I seem to recall one of the big banks setting up an offshoot, createwealth springs to mind, that had loadable cards for online payments. I'll find the article later and confirm they offered what you want.

Does Beanz still exist? I know it was aimed at kids initially and I dont know what the level of acceptance is, but that was another one. Going back in time here.. lol

I found that a Visa Electron card can be used for online purchased from any country that accepts Visa apart from the UK.

Lloyds TSB provide this with every account if you are under 19 I beleive.

I think Co-op Banking were doing something like a one time card, or pre-payed card, it might have been under the Smile brand (Or is co-op Cahoot? Can never remember)

Why should the UK be exempt, then?

Because the card originates in the UK and is for use at checkout only where the card holder is present. Not sure why but it works fine outside the UK, maybe its a loophole.
