    Kernel (2.6.0) Recompiles!

Get your system up-to-date and use the new 2.6.0 linux kernel! The new 2.6 kernel includes many enhancements, such as the XFS Filesystem and is an all around better and more secure kernel to use.

I have been using the 2.6 kernel since the first few test releases and am currently using it to run my desktop :-)

Have an expert bring your system up to date. I charge a flat $45 fee for a kernel recompile and can accomplish any other *nix work you need done.

If you would like my cell phone number or resume please contact me and I will provide it for you.

The latest stable version of the Linux kernel is: 2.6.0

Of course, each kernel is custom compiled for each server and only includes the necessary: i.e, no sound drivers. However, the 2.6 kernel is very stable and should perform just as well as the 2.4 kernel :-)

Pulsedot, I may be interested but what are the advantages of the 2.6 kernel? Is it compatible with CPanel and other control panels? Any performance gains?

Not to banter or persuade the validity of ones advertisement but anyone (including myself) who has tried the new 2.6 kernel will tell you it is riddled with bugs and inconsistencies; what do you expect when they skipped the whole RC stage for the sake of pushing out the 2.6 kernel before Christmas.

It would be an advisement to anyone; that they wait a few weeks (4-8) before setting up 2.6 on production systems; if not longer. At least until a preliminary revision of 2.6 can be made to address numerous issues numbering in the hundreds; perhaps thousands.

Moving to 2.6 is not wise at this time. Look at the list of things to do. They've not yet patched many vulnerabilities that were (even recently) resolved in 2.4.23. I'd give it a *while* before migrating, and who cares about XFS, etc. anyway. Most web servers don't use this (or shouldn't), though some might have good reason to. By far it's not true that it's more secure than 2.4.23.
