I was wondering if anyone could host me a ircd server for a little while. I wouldnt be having this for multiple people to connect, it would just be for me to learn how opserver chanserv helpserv and all of those work. I would not have more then 5 people connected at a time, normally it would just be me. I would host it off of my server except that the datacenter wont let us run irc type processes. I am looking to pay $5-10 a month for this. If anyone is interested please reply. Thanks

If you're looking for why you may not get many offers, heres why;

i. Unfortunately, IRCDs draw hack attempts. If the daemon is running on a box with other clients, who wants the headache?

ii. IRCDs can pull down the bandwidth, and if the host is limited in funds overages can result which cause problems.

iii. Arguably there are otherways to achieve community communications that don't pose such risks.

Nonetheless, I hope you find someone willing to support your request.

I wouldnt need to give out the irc server's address to anyone else except for me. I do know the problems about irc and I understand the risk of hosting it but I assure you that I will not have anyone except me connecting to it.

I got the irc shell and the ircd server files there.. can anyone help me setup the config file? I tried to do it but I couldnt.
