Urgent paypal question?

Hello everyone,

I just signed up for a paypal merchant account.

My developer need the account information to do the 'palpal payment integration'.

I do not want to provide my login email and password for security reasons.

What do I need to do?

Can I add more login IDs/emails etc. and provide him that info?

Or what else ?

Please advise.

Thanks.

Rick

You can add additional emails, but the password must stay the same and it still goes into the same account.

Your developer shouldn't need the paypal password, even if hes setting up an IPN script.

How will he setup the "payment integration" without password?

What should I tell him?

Btw, If I add more email and give him that: Can people change paypal account information using this "add on" email? Any thing I should be careful about?

Thanks a lot for the help.

Rick

Paypal has more than enough documentation about setting up IPN intergration. Your developer should only need you paypal account name. Do not provide your password to anyone you do not trust. A user with a second email address could use the forgot password function and may be able to gain access to your account. Once again only do this if your trust someone completely.

Thanks for the help.

Its little confusing. Paypal really doesn't have a section where it says which information you should provide to your developer for payment integration.

So what is my 'account name'?

My business name that I entered in paypal or my 'primary login email' or My name or ?

Thanks again.

If you cant trust your developer with that kind of information then I would say you need to find another developer .
Your going to be executing code writen by this person to accept paypal payments from other people . With a bit of work , it would not be very hard for this person to redirect X% of payments to his own paypal account.

Although that being said they dont need the paypal password to set it up , however if they want to do some testing (like run a couple of transactions through to make sure it works and then refund there own money) they could have a reason to have the password (or you could just refund the money from the test transactions your self) .

I contacted paypal and they suggested that the developer only need the account login email. They strongly suggested not to provide the account password to anyone at all.

I do trust my developer but paypal says it won't be responsible for anything if we leak the password to other people.

Thanks.

I could generate your "buy buttons". It is very easy and nobody needs to login into your account in order to create them!

Send me a PM.
