Private IP on WAN (Network Question)

Hey guys. I'm setting up a network in a datacenter and they will be routing my IP's over a private subnet.

ip route xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 255.255.255.0 10.1.0.0/30

I've seen this done before on several occasions, and although I cant see to come up with a problem (other then not being able to ping your WAN interface), does anyone see a reason why I should ask them to put a public subnet there?

Thanks,

WinApp

It doesn't really make a difference.

Some do it, so that someone can't do a PING or basic DOS against the router/switch.

I figured as much. I just wanted to make sure I wasnt forgetting something and setting myself at a disadvantage by setting it up this way.
