What does an order form NEED?

Well - after noticing modernbill never charged my CC, I decided to save $100+ (Over the course of several months, that is), and write my own, open-source, order form / invoice / client-based system...

I'd like to get everyone's opinions on whats NEEDED, what would be nice, what to do right/wrong, etc.

So far all I have is a registration system, that uses md5 to encrypt passwords and sends out e-mail activation (Using the person's name + password, as the code)... Works pretty nice - really fast, as well... Its also in PHP and MySQL - so its 100% free.

Also: If anyone is interested in helping me with it, please send me a PM... Right now the only people working on it are myself, and my friend (Xerpher: www.terradesign.ws )... Extra help would be nice, and input would be just as nice.

Also note: I'm horrible at programming things for broad use, so if anyone here is an expert at JUST that - that'd be very nice...

I'd also like to mention that I hope to include an option to offer FREE hosting (I.e. - domain.com/USER) with bandwidth/space tracking - kind of like geocities, angelfire, etc.

Well - one suggestion off the top - you may want to have it whereby it can automatically integrate with popular systems like Cpanel, etc. for automated account setups, suspensions, etc.

I agree with CDG...having the modules (as in ModernBill) that interact with various control panels, registrars and payment gateways are, in my mind, a must have. This has made business so much more managable.

Yeah I agree - Its so much easier pressing one button to activate the account, send out an e-mail, and create the invoice.

What else? I was thinking about making it easy to create add-ons via a scripting engine (I.e. - instead of adding new features by searching through tons of code, and programming it in 100% php - you could add a new feature by creating a new file, adding it into an index, then use only 20% PHP and 80% an easy-to-use scripting engine (Easier than it sounds to make)).

I'm still looking for people who want to work on it... Just PM or reply here, if interested... Its a semi-big project, but it will be worth it once done.
