How fast can your servers download?

I have some servers at He.net and non of them can pull a single file faster than 10 mbit/s from outside the He.net network.

Anyone have a server at He.net? Anyone have a test file on a very fast server and network?

How fast can you download this file?

ftp://ftp.uu.net/uumap.tar.Z

Please speed test this as well

From RS:
11:24:52 (1.01 MB/s) - `mysql-4.1.0-alpha.tar.gz' saved [33585858/33585858]

From DV2:
12:26:47 (664.56 KB/s) - `mysql-4.1.0-alpha.tar.gz' saved [33585858/33585858]

And this is from DV2 to RS (to show the network for both):
11:32:09 (2.46 MB/s) - `mysql-4.1.0-alpha.tar.gz' saved [33585858/33585858]

the way u speed test ur server is not necessarily demonstrative.

concentrate on the total capacity. not a single file. how many files from different locations and networks have you tried? are they on the west coast, central or east coast? keep in mind that he.net is on the west coast and it's hard to get 10mbit+ over a single thread from across the country.

my he.net server has no speed problems at all. it does do a lot better on the west coast tho. it easily maxes out 100mbit on west coast networks such as xo, abovenet etc. single download thread from east is not that high but when i tried multiple threads (with prozilla) it often went up to 50mbit+. so the capacity is there.

and finally ru with he.net directly or a reseller? each reseller has their separate network and bandwidth commitments.

We have a 100Mbit uplink to AboveNet San Jose. AboveNet and HE have to have at least a gig between them, as I always pull a true 100Mbit when downloading from HE.

Here you go (I'd be curious to see if anyone else can beat this):

# wget http://mysql.he.net/Downloads/MySQL-...0-alpha.tar.gz
--11:04:42-- http://mysql.he.net/Downloads/MySQL-...0-alpha.tar.gz
=> `mysql-4.1.0-alpha.tar.gz.1'
Resolving mysql.he.net... done.
Connecting to mysql.he.net[64.62.223.52]:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 33,585,858 [application/x-tar]

100%[=======================================================>] 33,585,858 10.62M/s ETA 00:00

Oh, and here's a test file off our web server. You should be able to pull ~10MB/s (or over 90Mbit) off of it from HE.

http://www.simpli.biz/download.dat (20MB)

I would open a ticket with HE, definately seems like an issue, however it's more than 10mbit, so I don't think it's because you are capped at 10

ClusterMania - You may want to have your NIC card swapped - If you're only getting 170 KB/s on the HE network, something may be wrong with your NIC card (or switch, or server).

clustermania - i can get 10.23mb/sec on the mysql package and 8.6mb/sec on simpli's test file from my he server. so there's definitely a problem on your server.

Yeah, I am trying to figure out what's wrong. I am not the only person getting these type of speeds. I can do server to server transfers at 100mbits.

What else could it be? I have had the provider open up a ticket.
