godaddy

the company i work for during the day uses network solutions as their domain registrar and whenever i have to make a change of any kind, it is a real pain... so i suggested that we transfer our domain to godaddy and the boss thinks its a good idea as long as i can prove that godaddy will be around for a long time and is not some here today gone tomorrow operation.

now I know that it is a good reliable registrar because i use it for all my web design clients' sites but can anyone provide me with some good resources to prove to my boss that godaddy will be around for a while?

They provide some "propaganda" links on their front page that should be what you're looking for. I've used Godaddy for a good bit now myself and they've been nothing but great.

I haven't had my domains for very long (one or two I've had for a good bit of time) but purchasing 16 domains through Godaddy.com wouldn't get me very far if they were going out of business.

To be ICANN accredited you have to do many things so I am pretty sure that they will be around.

I have been using them for a couple of years and had nothing but great service. Their domain transfer process is painless and easy to follow. I highly recommend them.

Where did you get that? It just means in the top 500 fastest growing companies that were surveyed. They are far too small to be a fortune 500 company

Go Daddy ranked #92 on the 2003 Deloitte Technology Fast 500, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology companies – both public and private

You might use the fact that there are many who resell GoDaddy domains as evidence that they are widespread. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but at least it says they seem to be popular for one reason or another. A Google search will find you a list of resellers. (You can tell it's a GoDaddy reseller by the familiar co-branded look.)

I'm not sure what you're changing on you domain, but if it's DNS you need, there are many free and commercial DNS providers. ZoneEdit, XName, EveryDNS, and WorldWideDNS to name a few.

If he/she is shy of free services as most PHBs are, WorldWideDNS is a pay service. I think all of the providers I mentioned have redundent servers located in diverse locations (ZoneEdit and WWDNS does for sure). There are many others, you might try a "Similar Pages" search on Google.

My $.02
