vBulletin Custom Skin

Just completed a custom skin for a client. Was a challenge to get the forum to fit the small width I had to work with. I enjoyed the challenge, and learned more about the vbulletin template system.

How did I do? The objective was to fit the forum style into the existing site design.

I personally think it looks awesome, thanks a lot again!

If anyone is interested in Tony's services I can recommend him, it was a pleasure to work with him.

I think the navigation menu looks really bad because of the text that you decided to use. It is too antialiased which gives it a blurry look at that small size. My suggestion is to use a pixel font of some kind because they look best with no antialiasing and they are readable at small sizes. Also, in the nav menu the forums button is not the same as the others. I would make sure the graphics are the same size for each button.

Overall it's a good job but it also looks a little plain with all of the whitespace. Make sure you put something in the left nav menu where the search box is.

The thread was asking of the forum style, not of the site itself which I think (IMHO) looks pretty nice even if I didn't do it myself.

My job was to take vBulletin 3.x, and to edit it into a style that fits the SolidRack site scheme with fixed width dimensions. It had to be kept simple, and many templates edited just to fit the width alone. I'm sure anyone with vBulletin 3.x editing experience can tell you that it's not an easy task to do all that with vb3.

It's supposed to look plain. Infact.. I love simplicity

We are indeed placing some more info in the left bar, that's to be done soon.

I'm all about it. Great job! I sort of like the noncrowded sidebar. It seems we always try to get as much into out there as possible.

Great job!

Merry Christmas!!

Thank you all for the kind words. I thought the thread was going to die out, and poof 5 new posts to it come today.

djcee - I have contacted you as requested.

purebox - Yeah I noticed that too, but I was asked to match the forums exactly to the site which I did.

Korny - I don't really do phpBB design work as I haven't used that forum system much.

NickRac - Noticed you have a counter-strike site like mine. Perhaps we should link up sometime after you get some members.
