Crikey! That's a bold and proactive decision.
2 thumbs up here.

WOW!
Great thing here SWR! Didn't thought this was the "only solution" but anyway I don't post there a lot (1-2 posts per month) so that's cool
Keep up the good work!Charles Beliveau | NymixWeb.com

Good and tough call, but imo maybe give folks a tad longer notice than 2 days to "finish any business you have".

Yup, it wasn’t an easy decision for us to make. It took lots of discussion to come to the conclusion that this was the best thing to do.

I'm just fearing when we update counters.
Loosing Forums is one thing, but loosing post counts . . . .There is no best host. There is only the host that's best for you.0

I have to say I'm not in favor of this.
This is just going to make the regular forums crowded with "WHERE CAN I FIND HOSTING 500MB/10GB FOR $10 PLEASE HELP" posts. Now, instead of asking them to post in the Requests forum, what do we do with these? Recommend the same 5 or 10 providers I always see recommended in the Web Hosting forum? Seriously...
I was in favor of hosts having to pay $20/month or so to post in the Requests and Offers forums. IMHO, that would have done the same thing, but it wouldn't have crowded the regular forums with useless requests.Erica Douglass, Founder, Simpli Hosting, Inc.

We will probably loose some business because of this, but in the end it will be worth it.

This is a good move. Since 90% of the posters in those forums contribute nothing to the main forums I don't think there will be a problem.
Will you keep the 7 day limit on how often posts can be made in the Offers Forums?0

By removing the requests forums it will stop a host from changing their offering every few minutes just to meet the requirements of one user.
Hosts can present their offering in the ‘Offers’ forum and then the consumer can search through the offers to find the one that’s right for them, instead of having lots of hosts fighting over one customer.
The removal of the free hosting forums was just a natural addition to the removal of the requests forums.0

I would personally like to thank the Community Leaders (and iNet) on your recent decisions to better the community!
A well-reasoned assumption is very close to fact.

And a thanks to all the members that support us (by registering and posting and reading and what not )- after all most of the changes we've made thus far and will be making in the near future are a result of suggestions from various members, including suggestions made by our team of CATS (do a search in this forum if you don't know what it is).
We're still very open to suggestions on what else we should do to the forums down there(and to WHT in general) - so if you have anything, feel free to post, or email us your suggestions (moderators@webhostingtalk.com) if you fear posting your suggestion0
