Just found this. As a few people have been asking about site design and user preference etc. this may be of help in some way. The listings are a little old now, but principles are usually the same year after year. Essentially it's a site that gets a few 'experts' to review the big name sites lile ABC News and Microsoft and report on the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Some of it is pretty pompous and short sighted but in general it's pretty good. A lot of time is spent on navigation and usability, as well as content, so remains a pretty valuable resource
