Getting people to visit your forums

Hi,

Im currently running a small forum with a group of people.
Now one of the biggest problems is that we need to get more members and more activity.

There is no website connected to it, its basicaly a place where people come and chatter and perhaps discuss some issues.

Does anybody have some perls of wisdom to make the forums better?

I have thought of making some more content, like writing reviews on games/movies.
Perhaps making a simple template people can use to make their own reviews.

Anyways, anybody have some hints to make a forum better.
If you want to join/help out, the link is in my signature

it's hard to build an active forum at first because there are thousands of other forums out there. You just have to offer something different, something that will make people come back to your site for more, something that make people addict to your site (like WHT), something extraordinary, something like that

Something with AsianChics on it
(J/K)

Thanks, I kind of expected that bringing a group of friends there was just the beginning.

Im a good Java programmer, perhaps I can write some articles and point people to the forums if they need more help or something like that.

TIP :. If there are more admin and mod's posting you will scare off newbies from posting.

My customers are rather shy posting so they always eMail me instead :. in my case it would be easier to address their issues in the forum so others with the same Q's can also see.

If you're the only admin then make a couple of aliases for yourself so when you post it's not always admin :. admin :. admin and creating aliases will give a 'head start' in a new forum.

It is true that the admins seem to post the most and are the most vocal.

Thats one of the reasons they are the admins, they are always around.
I could make lots of accounts myself, but I wonder what the others will think..

It's not really a problem that I can fill the place with content, but I do get a "Are you having fun on your own" kind of idea.

Ah well, I heard most of my friends from the forum say I should just keep up the good work and keep posting new stuff.
I may make a new account for myself as a non admin to post stories
