What's wrong with PS ?

I was using Photoshop (6.0) before i formatted and re-installed win2k and had no problem. However after reinstalling win2k with the same method my photoshop is working like an old lady. Even when i write a text and press CTRL - A to select all it takes a few seconds to do that .

Even when i got into Task Manager i see it's using 100% and no other applications are working.

Did anyone face the same problem ?

Any inputs ?

Computer :
P4 1.4
768 MB SDRAM.
PS is working from second hdd (Like it used to be) which is 40 GB and the main hdd is 60 Gb

Yes , I reinstalled it.
There is a section under Preferences section named Memory Usage. I made it Lower but unless i take it to 0% it will continue doing the same thing i think

Have you installed the patches to bring it up to version 6.0.1? Grab these:

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloa...jsp?ftpID=1121
and
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloa...jsp?ftpID=1188

...and don't turn down the memory alowance...turn it up. With 768MB of RAM, I would set it on around 70% or so, as long as you are not running other applications at the same time, you should notice less "out of ram" messages.
