Drive not ready format terminated.


I partioned my friends hard drive properly but when i go to format it, it says

drive not ready
format terminated.

Anyone see this? How did you get around it? I tried scandisk c: but it couldn't.

What did you use to partition the drive?
Most times a third party partition software and manually re-formatting will work.

If all else fails, zero fill/low level format prevails;
of course, then you'd need to repartition with FDisk etc...

How do I do a zero fill/low level format? And should i jsut try using partition magic, too?

Yea I would've done that except that last time i installed it there was some problem and i ended up having to repartition everything (I hadnt done anythign within the prog). I'll give that a try, however!

You could also check the site of your hard drive manufacturer. They often have utility software for this kind of thing.
