Virtual Host

Was looking at a few of the members signature and reading where they were saying about "virtual host", that got me wondering what exactly was a virtual host? is that like "Claytons" the drink you have when your not having a drink"

Is "Virtual Host" the host you have until you find a "Real Host" and what is a "Host" anyway. I mean to say .. 'Host" sounds like a term an alien would use. You know the sort, they land on this planet and seek out "Hosts" to sustain there being.

I shiver at the thought of explaining my business to my non puter savey relatives. I end up telling them that we hosts are just Virtual Real Estate agents and we lease out space in our "Virtual Apartment buildings". Each building has so many apartments, and each apartment is a website.

The size and cost of your apartment depends on how much space and apartment resources you need. If you only need a very small apartment, then the cost is much less than someone needing a large apartment.

They usually just end up politely nodding and smiling, thinking I'm running some kind of scam.

. I tried explaining what a host was to my dad. I had to be careful not to mention 'url', 'domain', 'server', 'OS', 'bandwidth' and so on, otherwise they'd all branch out with 'what is bandwidth? o_O' thinking it's some form of illegal drug trafficking
